* vim-patch:8.2.1049: Vim9: leaking memory when using continuation linezeertzjq2023-04-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Problem: Vim9: leaking memory when using continuation line. Solution: Keep a pointer to the continuation line in evalarg_T. Centralize checking for a next command. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/b171fb179053fa631fec74911b5fb9374cb6a8a1 Omit eval_next_line(): Vim9 script only. vim-patch:8.2.1050: missing change in struct Problem: Missing change in struct. Solution: Add missing change. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/65a8ed37f7bc61fbe5c612a7b0eb0dfc16ad3e11 Co-authored-by: Bram Moolenaar <Bram@vim.org>
* refactor: make error message definitions constii142023-04-05
| | | | message.c functions now take const char * as a format. Error message definitions can be made const.
* refactor(screen): screen.c delenda estbfredl2023-03-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | drawscreen.c vs screen.c makes absolutely no sense. The screen exists only to draw upon it, therefore helper functions are distributed randomly between screen.c and the file that does the redrawing. In addition screen.c does a lot of drawing on the screen. It made more sense for vim/vim as our grid.c is their screen.c Not sure if we want to dump all the code for option chars into optionstr.c, so keep these in a optionchar.c for now.

* vim-patch:partial:9.0.1166: code is indented more than necessary (#21716)zeertzjq2023-01-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Problem: Code is indented more than necessary. Solution: Use an early return where it makes sense. (Yegappan Lakshmanan, closes vim/vim#11792) https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/1cfb14aa972ccf3235ac67f07b7db1175b7c5384 Partial port as some highlight.c changes depend on previous patches. Cherry-pick fname_match() change from patch 8.2.4959. Omit internal_func_check_arg_types(): only used for Vim9 script. N/A patches for version.c: vim-patch:9.0.1167: EditorConfig files do not have their own filetype Problem: EditorConfig files do not have their own filetype. Solution: Add the "editorconfig" filetype. * build: allow IWYU to fix includes for all .c filesdundargoc2022-11-15
| | | | | | | | | | Allow Include What You Use to remove unnecessary includes and only include what is necessary. This helps with reducing compilation times and makes it easier to visualise which dependencies are actually required. Work on https://github.com/neovim/neovim/issues/549, but doesn't close it since this only works fully for .c files and not headers.
* build(lint): remove clint.py rules for braces #20880dundargoc2022-11-01

* vim-patch:8.1.2057: the screen.c file is much too bigLewis Russell2022-08-19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Problem: The screen.c file is much too big. Solution: Split it in three parts. (Yegappan Lakshmanan, closes vim/vim#4943) https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/7528d1f6b5422750eb778dfb550cfd0b0e540964 This is an approximation vim-patch 8.1.2057. Applying the patch directly isn't feasible since our version of screen.c has diverged too much, however we still introduce drawscreen.c and drawline.c: - screen.c is now a much smaller file used for low level screen functions - drawline.c contains everything needed for win_line() - drawscreen.c contains everything needed for update_screen() Co-authored-by: zeertzjq <zeertzjq@outlook.com>

| | | | | | | Problem: Default cmdwin mappings are re-mappable. Solution: Make the default mappings not re-mappable. (closes vim/vim#10580) Use symbols for the first do_map() argument. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/44068e97dbd8fc8ebd93113e436a1e37a6bff52c

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This marks the following Vim patches as ported: vim-patch:8.1.1785: map functionality mixed with character input Problem: Map functionality mixed with character input. Solution: Move the map functionality to a separate file. (Yegappan Lakshmanan, closes vim/vim#4740) Graduate the +localmap feature. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/b66bab381c8ba71fd6e92327d1d34c6f8a65f2a7 vim-patch:8.2.3643: header for source file is outdated Problem: Header for source file is outdated. Solution: Make the header more accurate. (closes vim/vim#9186) https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/a3f83feb63eae5464a620ae793c002eb45f7a838 Also cherry-pick a change for <unique> mappings from patch 8.2.0807. Rename map_clear_mode() to do_mapclear().

* vim-patch:8.2.4911: the mode #defines are not clearly named (#18499)zeertzjq2022-05-10
| | | | | | | | Problem: The mode #defines are not clearly named. Solution: Prepend MODE_. Renumber them to put the mapped modes first. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/249591057b4840785c50e41dd850efb8a8faf435 A hunk from the patch depends on patch 8.2.4861, which hasn't been ported yet, but that should be easy to notice.

* vim-patch:8.2.3226: new digraph functions use old naming schemezeertzjq2022-04-12
| | | | | | Problem: New digraph functions use old naming scheme. Solution: Use the digraph_ prefix. (Hirohito Higashi, closes vim/vim#8580) https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/29b857150c111a455f1a38a8f748243524f692e1
* vim-patch:8.2.3184: cannot add a digraph with a leading spacezeertzjq2022-04-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Problem: Cannot add a digraph with a leading space. It is not easy to list existing digraphs. Solution: Add setdigraph(), setdigraphlist(), getdigraph() and getdigraphlist(). (closes vim/vim#8580) https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/6106504e9edc8500131f7a36e59bc146f90180fa Use GA_APPEND_VIA_PTR in registerdigraph(). Use tv_list_append_*() in getdigraphlist_appendpair(). Put the error messages in digraph.c. E196 is N/A. Remove mentions about 'encoding' being non-Unicode. Nvim doesn't support setting encoding=japan, so skip a test.

| | | | | | | | | Problem: Giving error messages is not flexible. Solution: Add semsg(). Change argument from "char_u *" to "char *", also for msg() and get rid of most MSG macros. (Ozaki Kiichi, closes vim/vim#3302) Also make emsg() accept a "char *" argument. Get rid of an enormous number of type casts. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/f9e3e09fdc93be9f0d47afbc6c7df1188c2a5a0d

* getdigits: introduce `strict`, `def` parametersJustin M. Keyes2019-09-13
| | | | | | | | | | | | Problem: During a refactor long ago, we changed the `getdigits_*` familiy of functions to abort on overflow. But this is often wrong, because many of these codepaths are handling user input. Solution: Decide at each call-site whether to use "strict" mode. fix #5555
