| * feat(defaults): mouse=nvi #19290matveyt2022-07-17
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Problem: Since right-click can now show a popup menu, we can provide messaging to guide users who expect 'mouse' to be disabled by default. So 'mouse' can now be enabled by default. Solution: Do it. Closes #15521
| * feat: add 'mousescroll' option (#12355)Jay2022-07-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add 'mousescroll' option to control how many lines to scroll by when a mouse wheel keycode is received. The mousescroll option controls both horizontal and vertical scrolling. The option is a string in the format: set mousescroll=direction:count,direction:count Where direction is either "ver" or "hor", and count is a non negative integer. If a direction is omitted, a default value is used. The default values remain unchanged, that is 3 for vertical scrolling, and 6 for horizontal scrolling. As such, the mousescroll default is "ver:3,hor:6". Add mousescroll documentation - Add option documentation in options.txt - Add brief summary in quickref.txt Update :help scroll-mouse-wheel - Mention mousescroll option as a means of controlling scrolling. - Remove obsolete suggestion to map scroll wheel keys to <C-U> to scroll by a single line -- users should prefer the mousescroll option. - Add some information about the consequences of remapping scroll wheel keys (they lose their magic ability to affect inactive windows). Update :help vim-differences - Add brief mousescroll summary under Options Add mousescroll tests - Test option validation - Test default mousescroll value and behavior - Test fallback to default values - Test mouse vertical and horizontal scrolling in normal mode - Test mouse vertical and horizontal scrolling in insert mode
| * refactor!: delete insertmode (#18547)Gregory Anders2022-05-22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Neovim already removed `evim` (or any similar flags). The 'insertmode' option is a weird remnant, so get rid of it. The 'insertmode' option is replaced with a script that closely emulates the option. This script is documented at :help 'insertmode'
| * refactor!: remove 'terse' optionDundar Goc2022-05-19
| | | | | | | | | | Having two methods of setting the same option is redundant and can be potentially confusing. Recommend adding 's' to 'shortmess' instead.
| * refactor!: remove 'remap' optionDundar Goc2022-05-19
| | | | | | | | | | An option that should always be kept on except for when working with old Vi scripts is of little use to us.

| * feat(provider)!: remove support for python2 and python3.[3-5]Björn Linse2022-01-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | These versions of python has reached End-of-life. getting rid of python2 support removes a lot of logic to support two incompatible python versions in the same version.

* | Add user-registers for arbitrary registers.Josh Rahm2022-01-11
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This allows users to define behaviors for arbitrary registers. These registers can be any character including multibyte characters. This means that any character may be used as a register and if that register is not a builtin register, it will defer to a user-defined vimscript function for behavior. This is done throw an option called 'userregfun' The function that 'userregfun' defines is a function that takes 3 arguments: action - Either set to "put" or "yank" register - The character representing the register. content - If the action is "yank" this string contains the content yanked. Multibyte registers are still broken for expressions. So while let @&=xyz Works as expected, let @λ=xyz will still throw a parse error.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Problem: 'showbreak' cannot be set for one window. Solution: Make 'showbreak' global-local. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/ee85702c10495041791f728e977b86005c4496e8 Change in oneleft() is N/A as the relevant condition was removed (has_mbyte is always true for Nvim, so the condition was always false; see commit 73dc9e9). Use wp over curwin for curs_columns(). Required for v8.2.2903 (otherwise test fails as it'll leave the global option set). Solution: Add missing p_sbr change. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/91e22eb6e09ec384496fccde812072033fd9e616 Already ported in commit 43a874a.

* docs, remove 'guifontset' #11708Justin M. Keyes2020-08-31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | - remove redundant autocmd list This "grouped" list is useless, it only gets in the way when searching for event names. - intro.txt: cleanup - starting.txt: update, revisit - doc: `:help bisect` - mbyte.txt: update aliases 1656367b90bd. closes #11960 - options: remove 'guifontset'. Why: - It is complicated and is used by almost no one. - It is unlikely to be implemented by Nvim GUIs (complicated to parse, specific to Xorg...).
* options: fix 'isident' for WindowsJan Edmund Lazo2020-08-02
| | | | Default value on Windows does not match the documented value.
* TUI: do not use "nvim_get_option" in tui threaderw72020-03-21
| | | | | | Since "nvim_get_option" is executed on the tui thread as a C function instead of msgpack-rpc, it accesses global variables that may change on the main thread.
* vim-patch:8.1.0864 Make 'scrolloff' and 'sidescrolloff' options window local ↵Will Eccles2020-03-17

* foldcolumn: allow auto:XMatthieu Coudron2020-02-29
| | | | | | | | Similar to signcolumn, allow foldcolumn to adapt itself to the number of folds. Regression: vim supports a maximum fdc of 12, this limits it to 9.
* restore old 'termencoding' behaviorBjörn Linse2020-01-19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Partially reverts #11647. Replaces #11662 The old implementation was removed without clear motivation. The "term option" hackaround added in its place is neither shorter nor simpler. The new behavior breaks even init.vim that expliticly check against it: if exists('&termencoding') set termencoding=utf-8 endif There was nothing wrong with the 0.4.x behavior. Empty &tenc has indicated that the &enc value should be used for all the history of Nvim. Ignoring setting the option is the expected behavior for Vim versions that does not support the option (and Nvim is such a version) 'tenc' was also irrelevant to the Test_unicode python3 test. The reason this has to be disabled is that neovim can't change internal 'encoding'

* vim-patch:8.0.1495: having 'pumwidth' default to zero has no meritJan Edmund Lazo2019-12-29
| | | | | | | | | Problem: Having 'pumwidth' default to zero has no merit. Solution: Make the default 15, as the actual default value. https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/42443c7d7fecc3a2a72154bb6139b028438617c2 Includes 'pumwidth' documentation changes from 8.0.1531.
