vim-patch:9.2.1100: NFA regexp engine does not inline copy_sub()
Problem: copy_sub() is on the hottest path of the NFA regexp engine, since addstate() calls it for every state it adds, but at -O2 the compiler leaves it out of line so every call pays function-call overhead. Solution: Mark copy_sub() "static inline" so the compiler folds it into its callers, which slightly increases binary size. Measured over a buffer of C code, regexp search and substitute are about 6-8% faster, including patterns with capturing groups. closes: vim/vim#21300 https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/3152d64a2b4848b578bd4c243e8d0f3d52ae6b5e Co-authored-by: Julien Voisin <julien.voisin@dustri.org>
